This painting is loosely based on a favorite beach along the Oregon Coast where my husband goes to surf, my kids go to explore, and I go to take a thousand photos of the rocks, trees, geology, sand patterns, and incredible tide pools. Short Sands has been a place that has taught me to look closely and pay attention to the ordinary/extraordinary beauty around me. I painted this particular piece during a painting class I took this past winter called Learning to See.
